Remove your Ledger device from the box and inspect the packaging and device for signs of tampering. Connect it to your computer using the supplied USB cable or a certified alternative. A welcome screen appears when it receives power.
Download Ledger Live Desktop® exclusively from ledger.com/live. Avoid third-party download sites. Open the app after installation and follow its onboarding assistant to begin setup.
Get Ledger Live Desktop® ↗Press the button on your device to turn it on. Choose the option that matches your situation:
Choose a PIN code between 4 and 8 digits. This protects your device from unauthorized physical access. Enter it on the device and confirm your choice.
Your device will display a 24-word recovery phrase. Write every word on the recovery sheet in the exact order shown, then store it offline in a secure place. It is the only way to recover your assets if your device is lost or damaged.
Open Ledger Live Desktop® and choose “Add a device” or “Connect device.” Follow the on-screen instructions to pair over USB, or Bluetooth for Nano X. Approve the connection on your device.
Ledger Live Desktop® will never ask for your 24-word phrase. Only enter it directly on your hardware device when restoring a wallet. Never share or photograph it.
After startup, you can send, receive, buy, and stake crypto while your private keys remain offline on your hardware device. Keep Ledger Live Desktop® updated for the latest security patches and features.
If your device won’t power on, try a different USB port or cable. For Nano X Bluetooth issues, check pairing in your OS settings.
